PY Tang Wins 2015 TITC Open Boost Class
The annual TITC or Thailand International Touring Car Championships was held at the famous RC Addict Circuit in Bangkok, Thailand, the same venue that held the 2012 IFMAR 1/10 Nitro. Entry of more than 300 drivers internationally participated in the event, considering the biggest RC racing in Asia, to compete in Modify, Open Brushless, Non Boost, Formula and Junior Class. Team ARC brought more than 20 drivers to attend the event consisting local Thai and international team drivers from Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Germany. Team ARC focused in the biggest entry of Open Brushless Class or 13.5T Boosted this year with hot favorite P.Y.Tang from Singapore being the most experience in this class, as well as having 2012 IFMAR ISTC World Champion, Jilles Groskamp to be a part of the team for a one-time contract to drive for ARC at TITC 2015 in the Modify Class. Other ARC drivers also ran in the Non Boost and Junior Class. The team started testing their R10 the week before. Tire strategy, 4 sets for 5 rounds qualifications, and car setup was crucial in getting the car dialled for the ever changing condition of this fast flowy track with some sections to be very bumpy, but the track remained high traction for most of the times. In the Open Brushless Class, team driver P.Y.Tang maintained focus for the whole week of practise getting his ORCA-powered ARC R10 ready for the main event. Hardwork paid off with P.Y. making the only 19-lap in control practise topping the group. On qualification day 1, P.Y. again showed that his R10 was well prepared topping the time sheet in Q1, Q2 and Q3, securing the overall TQ just on day 1. Day 2 qualification, P.Y. ran old tires taking 3rd fastest in Q4 and Q5 with a good chance into the finals, having to bring the last fresh set of tires from qualifications to the finals, and an additional 2 fresh sets for A-Main finalists.
